Earn A High School Diploma Online

High school is a hectic time for many students. Life changes cause some students to have to put their high school education on hold to pursue other things. In the past, if you left high school there was a good chance you never went back for the coveted high school diploma. With the homeschooling movement growing, and adults wanting to complete high school, more and more families are looking at alternative means to obtaining a high school diploma.  It is getting harder to succeed in life without a high school diploma, but with Internet popularity, it is much easier to earn a high school diploma online than in the past.

When researching high school diploma programs online remember that a high school diploma and GED are two separate things. The GED consists of subject tests you pass to earn a high school equivalency diploma. The GED can be completed faster than a traditional high school diploma online, but some students want a traditional high school diploma rather than an equivalency diploma.  An actual high school diploma program sends an accredited diploma just like you get from a regular high school. Make sure that any program you enroll in is accredited by one of the six accreditation agencies supported by the Department of Education.

These high school diplomas are the most marketable and leave no concern over the legalities of presenting them to schools and workplaces. If an online high school diploma program is only accredited by a state agency or distance education service, it is not the same thing. Only enroll in these programs with the understanding that there are no guarantees your high school diploma will be marketable, and in some cases, even legal.

There are many online high schools accredited regionally that are open for enrollment all year long. Tuition usually includes access to certified teachers via email and phone, any books or materials needed, testing assessments and the diploma. Schools vary on how long their programs take to complete, but some schools offer a high school diploma in under a year.

Earning your high school diploma online is really dependent on how quickly you work through the materials. If an online high school does not require books then your classes will be strictly online. If finances are a concern, you could see if your state has a state-funded virtual school that offers a high school diploma.

Online programs for high school diplomas are easy to find with a simple internet search. If you desire to walk down the aisle and get your diploma, search for online programs that offer a graduation ceremony. These programs will require that you travel to the state they are located in, but some online high school graduates consider this their senior trip. It also gives you and your family time to bask in the glory of your success and for you to walk with other students who took the online program with you. Getting your high school diploma through distance education makes a high school education obtainable for those who needed to put it on hold the first time.

University Courses Online

Although I have a pretty good job with decent pay, I know my career prospects are limited because of the fact that I don't have a college degree. Experience and know-how will only get me so far in the corporate world; at some point I'm going to need the academic credentials to prove that I'm qualified for a promotion. While I don't necessarily agree that this is the way things should be, there's no question that that's how the system currently works.

So in order to get ahead in my field, I'm going to start taking university courses online. By doing this, I can earn a Bachelor's degree in just a few years, and I won't even have to quit my job or travel to attend classes on campus. That's exactly the kind of situation I want, because then I'll actually be able to continue earning an income and pay for my university courses without having to take out student loans.

I have to admit that I was a bit worried about how online university courses are perceived compared to traditional classes. In other words, I wanted to make sure that my company would accept my degree as legitimate and regard it in the same way as one earned by sitting through lectures on campus. After all, I didn't want to spend thousands of dollars only to have my Human Resources department tell me that my degree was worthless. Fortunately, I found out that as long the university courses come from an accredited institution, I would be fine.

With that detail out of the way, I was able to start looking around for business university courses that I would be interested in taking. I was pretty much open to anything, so long as the classes were useful, applied towards a degree, and allowed me to do all the required work at my own pace. I soon found that there are so many online university courses available these days that I could choose from several excellent ones that would be perfect for me. The classes I want are offered through a very well known college, so I signed up and am looking forward to starting in the next couple of weeks.

At 36 years old, there's no way I would be comfortable sitting in a classroom with kids half my age, so I'm really happy that an alternative exists. By taking university courses online, I can get the same quality education that traditional students have access to without having to put the rest of my life on hold. I can't wait to finally earn my degree and move forward with my career!

How To Earn A Bachelors Degree Online

Many jobs are starting to require no less than a bachelors degree in order to be hired. For those that hire workers without a bachelors degree, many of them require workers to advance their education in order to advance. In the past, this meant many people took jobs they did not desire so they could complete a college degree. Now people are starting to find that the internet offers quite a variety in online bachelor degree programs. Taking advantage of these online programs, many people are continuing their education while holding down a full-time job. For some people, their company helps pay tuition if they advance their education.

In order to earn a bachelor's degree online you must be a self-directed, motivated learner. You must also be willing to commit to at least four years of continuing education online. Approach an online degree program as you would a regular campus program. Research fields of study, or ask your employer what sorts of classes they would reimburse you for and find an online degree program for that major. Some online bachelors degree programs have admission requirements stating that you need an associates degree or college credits before applying.

If this is the case, you may want to attend a community college first so you can complete your bachelors degree online. You can also enroll in an online associate degree first to get a feel for online learning and earn college credits.

Fields like nursing and dental hygiene offer bachelors degrees online as long as you are already a certified or registered nurse or hygienist. Other programs such as liberal arts, psychology, sociology, business management and criminal justice only require the basic admission requirements such as SAT scores and high school transcripts. Send in all the necessary information and fees to the schools you are interested in. Just because a class is online, you will still need to be enrolled into the school and possibly accepted into the school of your major.  Once you have been accepted into the baccalaureate program, start enrolling in online classes.

You will need to start your bachelor degree program with basic education courses such as math, science and English. After the first sixty or so credits are complete, you will be able to begin taking classes tailored to your major. These are the courses some employers will reimburse you for, or at least offer partial payment. An online bachelor degree program does not differ much from an on-campus degree program. You will still need textbooks and supplies along with any special technological requirements.

If your bachelor degree program requires field experience, your school should work with you to schedule convenient times to complete your field experience. Some of the field experience work can be handled online like turning in reports and papers and reporting to your field experience supervisor.  If a bachelor degree is offered completely online, most likely you will not have to worry about field experiences.

In the end, you will be able to earn an online bachelor's degree while continuing to build your work experience and bring in an income.
